Course Overview
This course is for you if you want to develop your interest in interiors and have a general understanding in how space, colour, textiles and furniture all work together in interior design to form a cohesive look.
The course is at intermediate level and will help you develop your basic skills in interior design.
You will learn: How to plan 3D layouts; work in your own style; prepare models; use scale and proportion and plan professional layouts.
You will continue to develop your knowledge and understanding of:
A range of interior design techniques; the principles of colour theory; how different cultures have inspired interior design; use specific design terminology; use publications about interior design.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
Some basic understanding of interior design. This course is an intended follow on from the Beginners online Interior Design course. Basic IT literacy and access to the downloadable ‘zoom’ app. An enthusiasm to actively take part in class exercises.

Equipment Required

Equipment Required
All basic materials are provided. If you wish to build up your own art kit as the course progresses you may need to purchase some of your own materials. You may also want to use particular fabrics, wallpaper, colours, patterns, magazine cut outs etc., for your mood board or design, which you will need to purchase. If you wish you may also like to keep your inspiration and record of your work in an A4 sketchbook/or folder. It could also be helpful to wear old clothes.

You will have the opportunity to discuss with your Tutor your individual progression route, including the possibilities of progression to Further or Higher Education that could help your journey into the world of work as an Interior Designer. What examination is there?

What examination is there?
At the beginning of the course an initial assessment takes place to identify your level of
experience knowledge or current skills.
The tutor will carry out informal assessments to check your understanding, there is no exam.
You will complete a self-assessment at the beginning, middle and end of the course.
Your tutor will let you know how you are getting on throughout the course to you will help you
work to your full potential.
At the end of the course you will receive written feedback.

How will I know I am making progress?

How will I know I am making progress?
You will have an ‘Individual Learning Plan’ where the course learning outcomes are shown and
where you can set individual learning goals and monitor your own progress against these.
You will need to evaluate your own progress and manage your time.
Your tutor will give ongoing feedback and will keep you informed of your progress.

To maximise your chances of benefiting from the course fully we expect you to attend all scheduled sessions and that you do so punctually and are ready to start learning at the start of the class.

The printmaking studio is accessed by stairs only.
