Course Overview
This course is designed to help develop your Photoshop skills in conjunction with your photography. This five week courses consists of five distinct sections: Introduction to Photoshop – where you will learn about the basics of the programme, and photography; Tools and Transformations – finding out which best tool to use when working with your photographs; Editing Tools and Curves – how to apply traditional darkroom techniques in Photoshop; Colour, and Making Colour Adjustments – how to work with colour photographs; Retouching, Masks, and Layers – how to retouch images, for example retouching a face, using the appropriate tools. You will be encouraged to work on your own photographs.

Work with your colour photographs to improve, enhance, change and correct colours – to be able to make informed choices about using colour, for instance desaturation and duotones.

Work with b/w photographs. To improve, evaluate, and analyse the quality of images to be able to make tonal adjustments and balances.

Retouch images. To be able to retouch photographs using a range of retouching tools, for example the Clone and Patch tools on landscapes and portraits.

Use layers. To be able to use and control layers, layer masks, and adjustment layers effectively.

Understand and apply traditional skills borrowed from the darkroom. To be able to use and understand Curves, and how to correct under exposure and over exposure – and how to use editing tools.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
Access to a Mac or PC that has Photoshop. To be able to use Zoom. To be able to use a computer keyboard. Access to a camera, and to be able to upload your photographs on to a computer.

You will need a computer and access to Zoom to take part in the online classroom.

Your work will be assessed by the tutor, as we progress though the course.
There will be regular quizzes

At the end of the course you will receive written feedback.

The printmaking studio is accessed by stairs only.
