Course Overview
Although this is a refresher for beinners, it is also suitable if you are someone who often practices mindfulness on your own and are quite skilled, but would welcome the opportunity of practice with a group.

Our wellness tools will include: meditation, breathing techniques, guided Imagery, nature sounds and mindful stories/poetry, mindful movement and mindful eating.

Please note this course is offered online via Zoom. You will also need to download Zoom onto a suitable device. Joining instructions will be sent before the start of the course.

Practice various formal mindfulness such as meditation (e.g. Body Scan) in order to learn how to 'notice' patterns of sensations in the body.

Use guided imagery to promote relaxation which can lower blood pressure and reduce other problems related to stress

Recognise the relationship between the mind and the gut and what this means in relation to stress that we create in our bodies

Practice mindful movement so you can explore limits and discomfort, tune into the sensation in your body and notice distraction

Practice various informal mindfulness (e.g. Mindful Eating) to become aware of sense of taste, touch, smell and sight and how it is to 'slow down' when we eat.

You should be able to speak English clearly and follow verbal instructions.

This course may not be suitable if you are on high depression medication, due to meditation sessions. If you are receiving treatment for any mental health conditions, please consult your health professional before enrolling on this course.

What examination is there?

There is no formal assessment but you will be asked to monitor your own progress during the course. For example, this includes you monitoring your own health and fitness via a simple questionnaire.

The tutor will provide verbal feedback throughout the course.
Students are encouraged to monitor their progress and achievement using an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).

You will also gain more from the course if you commit time to it outside the classroom.

In general, we will not allow late enrolment to any course after the first two weeks. Learners are expected to arrive on time and attend every class.

Children are not allowed in our health & fitness courses unless they are specifically family learning classes. Please do not ask your tutor to give your child access as they do not have the authority to do this.

Health and Safety requirements demand that all learners participating in health classes must be present for instructions on safe working practices. Therefore, latecomers who miss the first part of the session will be refused entry.


Students are encouraged to comment on the course. The tutor will distribute at least one student satisfaction survey where your views will feed back into the planning, teaching and learning of future courses.
