Course Overview
On this course, via a series of tutorials and demonstrations online, you will begin to develop a themed series of images, a photo project. These images will form a digital exhibition on the Idea Store Learning website and Instagram. The course will be taught by three experienced photography tutors, bringing the benefit of their considerable and diverse experience in professional photography.
Photographic techniques, the effective use of lenses and aspects of lighting and exposure, will be discussed, as well as the work of other photographers who use the idea of the photographic series.
This course is suitable for all levels of learners, from beginners to advanced, who have an interest in visual imagery and documentation.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
You must have access to a computer with webcam and internet access to take part in the Zoom video sessions. You are advised to download the Zoom app. You must have access to a digital camera. A pen and note pad.

Equipment Required
You must have access to a digital camera and should have a basic understanding of digital photography. Ideally you will have completed the basic digital photography course or similar.

You could attend other photography courses at Idea Store Learning including the: Intermediate Digital Photography, Portrait Photography, or the photography workshops.

Your tutor will support you in researching these and other courses outside of Idea Store Learning.

What examination is there?

What examination is there?
At the beginning of the course the tutor will carry out an initial assessment to identify your current level of experience knowledge or skills. This is repeated at the end of the course. There is no exam.

There is no summative assessment. You will receive verbal feedback throughout the course through a series of critiques and will be expected to take part in discussion with fellow students.

At the end of the course you will receive written feedback.

How will I know I am making progress?

How will I know I am making progress?
Your tutor will give you on-going feedback tracking and monitoring your progress, giving feedback though out the course. You and the tutor will use an individual learning plan to monitor your progress allowing you and the tutor to track your knowledge and skills developed on the course.
You will also gain more from the course if you commit time to it outside the classroom.

To maximise your chances of benefiting from the course fully we expect you to attend online scheduled sessions and that you do so punctually and are ready to start learning at the start of the class.

If you intend to take an examination and feel you have an additional learning need or special requirements, you must declare them to your tutor within the first 2 weeks of your course.

If you are studying in an online group, then you can arrange a one-to-one online discussion with your tutor, after the session, or by email.
