Course Overview

Course Overview
This is a one-year course. The course has four parts. Each part is 9 weeks. You can start at the beginning of any part.
In Part A, you will learn about women’s voices in the world. You will learn about leadership, fairness, and climate change. You will improve your reading, speaking, writing and listening. You will do group work and take part in projects. You will help with Green Week and plan a toy swap. You will write letters and meet a guest speaker.
In Parts B, C and D, you will help decide what we learn. You will choose a topic or a project with your classmates. This course is about using your voice — in English and in the community.
You will learn new grammar and vocabulary. You will become more confident in English. You will practise real English for life, work and study.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
This is an Entry 3 ESOL class. You can already talk and write about everyday topics and communicate your ideas clearly. You are beginning to use the past tense and present perfect. You are working on improving your grammar and vocabulary for more formal or professional contexts. You will need to complete a pre-course assessment.

What examination is there?
There is no examination for this course. You will agree individual learning goals with your tutor which you must achieve by the end of the course.

How will I know I am making progress?

How will I know I am making progress?
At the start of the course, your tutor will talk with you about your goals and help you create an individual learning plan (ILP). You will have tutorial meetings to review your progress and discuss your strengths and areas for improvement. You will receive regular feedback on your work, including classwork, homework, and project tasks. You will need to attend all your classes and complete activities outside of class to make good progress.

You will lose your place if you miss 3 classes in a row without telling your teacher or if you miss 4 classes in total.

This course supports your personal development and helps you become an active citizen. You will build important skills for work and life, including:
