Course Overview
This is a year-long course divided into four 9-week parts. You can join at the start of any part.

This course helps you improve your English for everyday life, work, and the community. You will develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills so you can feel more confident using English at home, in public places, and at work.
You will practise having short conversations, asking for help, writing emails, reading signs, and filling in forms. You will also learn important grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills that are useful in real-life situations like going shopping, visiting the doctor, using transport, or applying for a job.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements
This course is for adults over 19 who already know some basic English. You should be able to ask and answer simple questions and write short sentences. Before joining, you will complete a short assessment to check your level.

You should be motivated to improve your English for daily life, work, and community participation.

You will need to do a pre course assessment to see which level you are working towards.

What examination is there?
There is no examination for this course. You will agree individual learning goals with your tutor which you must achieve by the end of the course.

How will I know I am making progress?

How will I know I am making progress?
At the start of the course, your teacher will talk to you about the English you need to practise most. Together, you will make a learning plan.

During the course, you will have a meeting with your teacher to talk about what you are good at, what you need to get better at, and any problems you have.
• You will keep a folder with your work. This will help you look back and remember what you have learned.
• Your teacher will give you feedback on your class work and homework. This will help you improve.
• To make good progress, you must come to all your classes and do some work at home.

You will lose your place if you miss 3 classes in a row without telling your tutor or if miss 4 lessons in total.
