Interested in using Pilates based movement to support sustainable, confident and efficient moving bodies?
This practical and supportive workshop introduces Pilates‑based movement designed to support the body in motion, with a particular focus on dancers, movers, and those with an interest in moving with greater awareness, efficiency, and care. Rather than focusing on performance or intensity, the workshop centres on sustainable movement practices that help the body move well over time.
Participants will explore how key Pilates principles, such as alignment, core support, controlled mobility, breath, and coordination; can enhance movement quality, reduce unnecessary tension, and support ease and confidence in moving bodies. Attention is given to areas commonly working hard in dance and movement practices, including the spine, pelvis, hips, shoulders, and lower limbs.
Through guided exercises and short movement sequences, learners will deepen their understanding of how Pilates supports posture, balance, stability, and fluid transitions in movement. The session encourages participants to listen to their bodies, notice individual movement patterns, and adapt exercises to suit their own training, background, and physical needs.
The workshop is delivered in a reflective, non‑competitive environment that values curiosity and care. It supports participants in developing greater insight into how their bodies move, helping to promote longevity, injury awareness, and a more supportive relationship with movement and training.
