Course Overview
Whether you are new to ballet or returning after a break, this welcoming course offers a supportive space to develop your technique and confidence. You will explore fundamental ballet exercises, improve posture and alignment, and begin learning simple sequences set to music. The course encourages progression at your own pace, while introducing key vocabulary and developing musicality and awareness of movement.

* Demonstrate an increased understanding of basic ballet technique, including posture and alignment.
* Use and recognise essential ballet vocabulary during class activities.
* Perform at least two short exercises showing coordination and awareness of body placement.
* Move in time with music, demonstrating understanding of tempo and rhythm.
* Combine at least three movement phrases into a short tutor-led sequence.

Good general level of physical & mental health. Experienced & inexperienced dancers are also welcome.

Equipment required
Leotard and tights or close-fitting T-shirt and leggings. Flat canvas or leather ballet shoes (if you do not have any, then cotton socks are fine). A notebook or sketchbook, pen and pencil to take notes during demonstrations. A bottle of water – no other drinks are allowed in the dance studio.

How will you know you are making progress?

How will you know you are making progress?
• You will have an individual learning plan to monitor your own progress.
• Verbal assessment by tutor at each class.
• Regular feedback from tutor and peers.
• You will gain more from the course if time is committed to it outside the classroom.

There will be an initial assessment followed by on-going assessment of progress and achievement.
This course will also include:
•Structured opportunities for self evaluation;
•Use of video as a reflective tool;

In general, we will not allow late entry to any course after the first two weeks.

If you have declared a learning difficulty, disability or support need whilst enrolling and you require support/assistance in class or to complete your course, please discuss your needs with your tutor at the first lesson.

If you intend to take an examination and feel you have an additional learning need or special requirements, you must declare them to your tutor within the first 2 weeks of your course.

If you are studying in an online group, then you can arrange a one-to-one online discussion with your tutor, after the session, or by email.
