Course Overview

Course Overview
“Move beyond technique, dance with expression, musicality, and dynamic range.”

This course builds on your technical skills by focusing on artistry, musicality, and the dynamic qualities of movement. While continuing to refine technique, you will begin to explore how movement can be shaped, varied, and expressed in more nuanced ways. The emphasis shifts from simply executing steps correctly to dancing with intention and individuality.

In class, you will work on dynamic contrasts such as speed, flow, sharpness, and softness, exploring how these qualities enhance your dancing. Barre and centre work will include more intricate combinations that challenge your coordination and responsiveness to music. You will develop a deeper understanding of phrasing and timing, learning to interpret music and apply expressive qualities to your movement. This term encourages you to connect emotionally with your dancing, helping you move with confidence, fluidity, and artistic awareness.
