Improve your maths skills while learning how to manage money and support your family.
On this course, you will learn how to budget, compare prices, and use maths to make better financial decisions. You will also develop your understanding of maths vocabulary so you can support your child with school maths.
With support from your tutor, you will practise real-life maths skills to help you feel more confident managing money at home.

Entry requirements
This course is for learners working towards Entry Level 3 in Maths.
This means you can already do some basic maths and now want to build your confidence to use maths more independently at home and with your family.

How will you know you are making progress?

How will you know you are making progress?
From the start of the course, your tutor will talk with you about what you can do well and how you can achieve more. You will create a learning plan together to help you organise your learning and make progress.
As part of this plan, you will work on completing a short personal task about something important to you. This task will help to develop your skills and show you the progress you are making.
Examples of personal tasks at this level include: planning and calculating the cost of a weekly shopping trip for your family; measuring and preparing ingredients to cook a simple meal at home; supporting your child with a maths homework activity and explaining the steps; using a timetable to plan a journey and work out travel times.
You will keep a folder of your classwork and homework. Your teacher will give you comments about your homework and your work in class to help you improve.
At the end of the course, you will discuss your progress and what to do next with your tutor.
You need to attend at least 80% of your classes.
