Course Overview
This course builds on your first steps and helps you use English to communicate in everyday situations.
You will practise speaking, listening, reading and writing through simple tasks such as asking questions, reading signs and writing messages.
You will also learn how to complete simple forms and share basic information. This will help you use English more confidently.

This is for learners working towards pre-entry (beginner) level.
You can talk about yourself and understand simple English in class.

• Lined A4 paper
• A smartphone (if you have one)
• A reusable water bottle
We will give you WiFi in your first lesson.
If you do not have a phone or computer, talk to your teacher.
You will need a Gmail account. Your teacher can help you set this up.

How will you know you are making progress?
From the start of the course, your teacher will talk to you about what you can do.
You may complete simple tasks from an Ascentis Pre-Entry workbook to show your progress.
Examples:
• answer simple questions about yourself
• read and match words to pictures
• fill in a simple form
• write a short message

Your teacher will help you and give feedback.
At the end, you will talk about what you can do now.
You need to come to 80% of classes.
